Swimming as a Sport
Swimming provides many distinct benefits compared to other sports which make it the perfect choice for many for young people. Long-time swimmers can attest to the life skills obtained through participation in swimming events, including better time management, goal setting, cooperation and independence. Swimming was not always as popular as it is today, and it was only in the early 19thcentury that competitions began to be held in the region. Most early swimmers used the breaststroke, or a similar form of it.
As it gained popularity over the years, freestyle and breaststroke became supplemented by other modern strokes such as the butterfly, backstroke and the individual medley.

Philanthropy
The European Swimming Championships also has a philanthropic arm, which aims to strengthen the sport through encouraging champions and saving lives. The organization aims to equip children with the lifesaving skill of swimming through our various community programs and initiatives. We partner with different advocates throughout the region to provide swimming lessons and help children and their families learn more about the importance of learning how to swim.
The organization aims to offer community-focused programs and initiatives that foster an environment where individuals can succeed as an athlete and as a human being. All of the programs that the organization supports aim to teach swimmers how to confront challenges and the importance of accepting the responsibilities that accompany success.

Values and Philosophy
The European Swimming Championships is bound by the values of proactiveness and innovation. The organization aims to communicate openly without disrespecting any of the policies and standards it has set for its members.
